Submit two (2) copies of the following plans and documents with a completed site work application form.

GENERAL SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Plat of survey signed and sealed by a registered State of Illinois Land Surveyor, showing all easements, and conservancy area boundaries.
  • Site plan accurately locating the existing driveway, and the dimension setbacks from the proposed driveway to property lines, fire hydrants, or manholes near the proposed work.
  • Driveways and/or hard surfaces are not permitted to be within five feet of any neighboring property line.
  • Indicate on the site plan the location, size, and species of any tree within 15 feet of the proposed work. (Contact the Village Engineer with any questions or concerns).
  • Indicate on the plan the depth and type of the surface material to be used. The minimum requirement for concrete is six inches (6") unless otherwise approved by the Village Engineer. The minimum depth of asphalt must be two inches (2") after compaction. A copy of the proposal from your contractor may provide this information and should be submitted.
  • Indicate on the plan the width of the driveway at the top, middle, and bottom.
    Indicate the depth of the gravel base. A minimum of four inches (4") is required for concrete surfaces, and six inches (6") required for asphalt surfaces. PEA GRAVEL IS NOT PERMITTED.
    When installing a concrete driveway, indicate the bag mix type to be used. Village Code requires a 5.5 bag mix min. on private property, and a 6.1 bag mix min. on public property.
  • Indicate the location of expansion and control joints, and indicate whether or not welded wire reinforcement will be used. (No reinforcing steel is permitted within the Village right-of-way.
  • Ensure that all surfaces pitch away from the house. If not possible, indicate on the plan.
  • A minimum of three inches (3") is required between the top of any concrete slab and the top of the existing foundation.
  • Indicate whether or not the curb will be replaced. Note that curb and gutters may not be cut, ground, or knocked off. The entire curb and gutter must be removed and replaced.

 GENERAL INSPECTION AND PERMIT INFORMATION: 

  • Contractor/Homeowner shall be on site with the approved plans for all required inspections. 
  • Allow 24 hours advance notification for required inspections. 
  • Call Community and Economic Development Department to schedule inspections at 847-913-2325 or fax your inspection requests to 847-883-8608, 24 hours a day.
  • Inspection scheduling hours are Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. 
  • The Village strives to provide timely review comments, however, up to a three-week review period for first comments may be necessary. 
  • Every permit issued shall remain valid unless (i) the work authorized by such permit is not commenced within 180 days after the permit is issued, (ii) the work authorized by such permit is suspended after the time when the work is commenced, or (iii) if the work is not completed within 12 months after permit issuance.
  • Village streets have a weight restriction of six (6) tons per axle. It is the responsibility of the contractor to contact the Village of Lincolnshire Police Department at 847-883-9900 for overweight permits.
  • Applicant shall be responsible for all issues regarding construction and compliance under this permit. It is common practice for the contractor to sign as the applicant.
  • At no time shall any vehicles, trailer, equipment, or material be left unattended on the street or in the right-of-way, day or night.
  • Permitted hours of construction for commercial contractors are as follows:

Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Saturday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
SUNDAY - No work permitted.

THE APPLICANT MUST KEEP ALL STREETS, RIGHT-OF-WAY AREAS, AND CONSTRUCTION SITES FREE OF THE ACCUMULATION OF MUD AND DEBRIS. FAILURE TO KEEP STREETS AND RIGHT-OF-WAY AREAS CLEAN WILL RESULT IN THE VILLAGE TAKING ACTION TO CLEAN THE STREETS AND CHARGING THE APPLICANT FOR ALL COSTS INCURRED.
