Building Division Applications and Permits

Submit two (2) copies of the following plans and documents with a completed Building Permit application form.

GENERAL SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Plat of survey or site plan of the property, indicating location of generator and gas/electrical lines.
  • Generator specifications, equipment cut sheets.
  • Generator cannot be located within an easement and shall be located no closer to the street than the front elevation of the home.
  • Permanent screening material such as evergreen plants shall be installed at least 6” higher than the equipment to provide year round obstruction of view from street.

GENERAL INSPECTION AND PERMIT INFORMATION:

  • Contractor/homeowner shall be on site with the approved plans for all required inspections.
  • Allow 24 hours advance notification for required inspections.
  • Inspection scheduling hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Call Community and Economic Development to schedule inspections at 847.913.2325.
  • The Village strives to provide timely review comments; however, up to a three-week review period for first comments may be necessary.
  • This permit will be valid for a period of 12 months from the date of permit issuance. After that time period a new permit and fee will be required.
  • Applicant shall be responsible for all issues regarding construction and compliance under this permit. It is common practice for the contractor to sign as the applicant.
  • Permitted hours of construction for Commercial Contractors are as follows:

Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Saturday - 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Sunday - no work permitted
