Submit two (2) copies of the following plans and documents with a completed Building Permit application form.

GENERAL SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Plat of survey of the property, signed and sealed by a registered State of Illinois Land Surveyor indicating location of work.
  • Patio plans showing base thickness and types of materials. Include any column, stairs or handrail details.
  • Indicate on plans any outdoor cooking or fire pits, underground gas or electric.
  • Indicate on the site plan the location, size, and species of any tree within 25 feet of the proposed work.
  • Indicate on the plan the location of overhead electrical service wires in relation to the proposed patio (If applicable).

GENERAL INSPECTION AND PERMIT INFORMATION: 

  • Contractor/homeowner shall be on site with the approved plans for all required inspections.
  • Allow 24 hours advance notification for required inspections.
  • Inspection scheduling hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Call Community and Economic Development to schedule inspections at 847.913.2325 or fax your inspection requests to 847.883.8608 24 hours a day.
  • The Village strives to provide timely review comments, however, up to a three week review period for first comments may be necessary.
  • This permit will be valid for a period of 12 months from the date of permit issuance. After that time period a new permit and fee will be required.
  • Applicant shall be responsible for all issues regarding construction and compliance under this permit. It is common practice for the contractor to sign as the applicant.
  • Permitted hours of construction for Commercial Contractors are as follows:

Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Saturday - 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Sunday - no work permitted
