The Village is asking for your participation in the Adopt-A-Hydrant program. Please consider adopting a fire hydrant close to your home or business and keeping it visible throughout the year. During winter storms hydrants are often buried under snow requiring firefighters additional time to locate and gain access to them during emergency calls. Adoption of a hydrant involves your assistance to keep it free of trash, weeds, snow and other debris throughout the year. Additionally, should you notice any damage or water leaks, please notify the Public Works Department at 847-913-2380.

When clearing a fire hydrant of snow please keep a clear pathway and a three-foot area surrounding the hydrant shoveled to allow access. Use caution and be aware of vehicle traffic when shoveling hydrants. Consider clearing snow from a fire hydrant for your neighbors who may have medical conditions, disabilities, or the elderly that may be unable to do so themselves.

Through this activity, your participation helps to benefit the neighborhood and keep our community a safer place. For further information or questions regarding this program please contact Maxwell Geib, utilities superintendent at 847-913-2383 between 6:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday - Friday.
