The annual leaf collection program begins on October 25, 2021. Leaves must be placed in the parkway by Monday morning of your specified pickup week to guarantee same-week collection. Reminder: please do not put leaves in the street. Leaf pickup is scheduled for Monday through Friday as follows:
Residents East of Riverwoods Road
Residents West of Riverwoods Road
October 25 - October 29
November 1- November 5
November 8 - November 12
November 15 - November 19
November 22 - November 26
November 29 - December 3
Do not mix brush, garden waste, tree limbs, vines, lumber, or other yard waste with the leaves. These materials can cause equipment failure and/or injury. Residents can rake leaves into the parkway prior to pick-up week.
Do not put leaves in the street. Leaves in the street can cause hazardous driving conditions, clog storm sewers causing localized flooding, and is a violation of Section 8-3-8 of the Village Code. Notify your landscaper, if applicable, of the Village’s leaf pickup schedule. Leaves placed in the parkway after 7 a.m. on pickup date will not be picked up and may result in a fine. Residents are responsible for the disposal of any leaves after their last pickup date by either working with a private landscape contractor or waiting until normal yard waste pickup begins on April 1, 2022.
What can I do with leaves until collection starts?
Wait until leaf collection starts to rake the leaves to the parkway.
Bag the leaves in the paper yard waste containers and place them out on the weekly collection day with a yard waste sticker. Stickers are available at Village Hall, 1 Olde Half Day Rd.
Major traffic pattern changes in effect on Riverwoods Road/Half Day Road due to the Crosstown Water Main Project. Expect delays!
Work at the Half Day Road and Riverwoods Road intersection is nearly complete. Crews completed pushing new water main under the intersection. Filling and pressure testing of the new water main will be completed this week so that work on restoring the pavement areas can begin next week.
Bike path and parkway restoration between Half Day Road and Duffy Lane will continue over the next few weeks. Progress on this was delayed due to weather.
Work north of Half Day Road is tentatively scheduled to begin early next week between Surrey Lane and Brampton Lane west of Riverwoods Road. This work will be staged off of the roadway and involve assembling pipe sections that will be drilled (not trenched) into the ground to minimize impacts and utility conflicts. As access drives are constructed and material is delivered, flagging operations may be necessary for this area. Barricades will also be placed to close the shoulder on the west side of Riverwoods Road between Half Day Road and Brampton Lane to allow for the off-roadway work to occur safely in the coming weeks.
For more detailed information, sign up for Construction Updates or visit the Village website. The traffic changes at the intersection are expected to last until November 2021. The entirety of the Crosstown Water Main project is expected to continue through spring 2022.
