Recycling services will continue to be defined as single-stream, which means most clean and non-contaminated household items will be considered recyclable. Residents may leave out as much accepted recycling items as they wish each week for collection. Overflow recycling materials do not need to be in a container, but large cardboard boxes must be broken down before collection.

See below for a list of acceptable and unacceptable recyclable items. Learn more guidelines on proper recycling steps at the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO).

Recycling collection will occur every Wednesday. Blue LRS carts should be left curbside by 6 a.m. on Wednesday morning to ensure collection. Carts may be placed curbside no earlier than 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and must be put away no later than 9 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Carts must be stored in areas that are not in plain sight from the street or in a location that would be a nuisance to neighbors. The Village recommends storing carts in garages or backyards.

Residents who wish to change the size of their LRS garbage and/or recycling carts can do so by submitting a cart exchange request form or calling 844-NEED-LRS. A $25 fee will apply.
