The Village of Lincolnshire is embarking on a $4 million Crosstown Water Main project along Riverwoods Road which will impact the roadway and the multi-use pedestrian path. The project is expected to be fully underway by September and run through spring 2022.

The Crosstown Water Main project will be inconvenient to residential and school traffic, but it is a necessary project to maintain and improve the Village’s water supply system.

See below for frequently asked questions about how the Crosstown Water Main project will affect residential neighborhoods, school and work traffic, and pedestrian accessibility.

Major Traffic Pattern Changes to Start September 9 - September 10

Intersection of Half Day Road & Riverwoods Road

  • The northbound and southbound left and right turn lanes on Riverwoods Road will be closed, and all traffic will utilize one lane in each direction. Vehicles will still have the ability to turn right and left onto Half Day Road.

  • Eastbound and westbound traffic on Half Day Road will be reduced to one lane in either direction and shifted north to the westbound lanes. Left turn lanes will be maintained.

  • Traffic on Riverwoods Road at Half Day Road will be sequenced to allow northbound traffic to travel through the intersection separately from southbound traffic.

Riverwoods Road

  • Traffic lanes on Riverwoods Road between Duffy Lane and Half Day Road will be shifted to the west. One lane will remain open in each direction with daytime flaggers, as necessary, where workers are present.

  • The northbound left-turn lane at Yorkshire Drive will be closed, but vehicles will still have the ability to turn left onto Riverwoods Road.

These major traffic pattern changes are expected to be completed on or before November 1.
